About VX_Doc

Founded in Berlin in 2020, VX Doc grew out of a lifelong passion for cameras and skate filmmaking. Originally from Milton Keynes, UK, I began filming my friends skateboarding back in 2007 with my first Sony DCR-VX2000E. What started as a hobby - shooting and uploading skate edits under the name Brownieperception - turned into a deep fascination with the cameras that defined a generation of skate videos.

Through years spent filming, repairing my own gear after countless “lens hits,” and helping friends within the skate community, I developed a hands-on understanding of how these cameras work - and how to bring them back to life. When a friend jokingly called me the “VX Doc,” the name stuck, and the repair bench became my business.

Today, I specialise in restoring and servicing classic camcorders used by skaters, filmmakers, and video artists across Europe. I take pride in using recycled parts and straightforward, reliable methods that respect the original design of each camera.

VX Doc is built on simplicity and sustainability: reusing parts and packaging where possible, keeping processes transparent, and prioritising function over perfection. Every camera has a story, by repairing rather than replacing, we help those stories continue.

Lens Repair & Cleaning (Sony VX1000 and Similar Models)

Lens repair is one of the most delicate and time-consuming procedures at VX Doc. Cameras such as the Sony VX1000 often arrive with impact damage, dust, or internal misalignment — especially from heavy field use. Each repair begins with an initial enquiry and photos sent through the contact form or email. After assessment, an estimate and repair plan are shared with the customer. Once approved, the camera is sent in for inspection and repair. During the process, the lens is carefully cleaned, realigned, or replaced depending on the fault. All work is carried out by hand, taking several hours to ensure clarity and function are restored while maintaining the original image character these cameras are known for. After testing, the repaired camera is securely packaged and returned to the customer.
